Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Slippery Rock University seeks a tenure-track faculty member beginning August 2018 for the Department of Criminology and Security Studies with general expertise in homeland security-related disciplines to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses both face-to-face and on-line. The successful candidate will be committed to effective teaching, scholarly research, service, and assessment. Teaching obligations will include the flexibility to cover a variety of homeland security-related topics. In addition to teaching, the position requires student advising. Other essential duties include discipline-related research, scholarship, service, curriculum development and assessment. Other duties will include effective marketing of the security programs and branding the program with external organizations and agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate (PhD or JD) in Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies/Analysis, Public Administration, Public Policy, Public & International Affairs, Law, Government, International History, International Relations or a terminal degree in a discipline closely related to Homeland Security intelligence field OR seven or more years work experience in a homeland security related field and a Masters (MS/MA) in Homeland Security, Public & International Affairs, Intelligence Studies/Analysis, Public Administration, Public Policy, Law, Government, International History, International Relations or a discipline closely related to the Homeland Security intelligence field.

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years teaching experience in higher education
