Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor of flute and music education position in the Department of Music to start in August 2018. Duties will include teaching applied flute, directing the flute choir, teaching Elementary Music Methods, and teaching other courses that fit the candidate’s interests/experience and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in flute, Music Education, or a related field required (doctorate must be in-hand by August 2018). A successful on-campus interview, including a recital performance and teaching demonstration is required. Teacher certification and commitment to the education of diverse populations is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching applied flute, directing a flute choir, and teaching elementary school and/or early childhood music in a school setting.
