The position will require teaching chemistry lectures and labs. Office hours (min 5 hrs/wk) will be expected. The position also requires carrying out undergraduate research and serving on department/college/university academic committees.

Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure track position assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry beginning in August 2018. Teaching responsibilities include the following undergraduate courses: Biochemistry I and II lecture and lab, Organic Chemistry I and II lab, and potentially General Chemistry I and II lecture and lab. It is expected that the faculty member will establish an undergraduate research program and serve on committees.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. or A.B.D in Biochemistry or Bioorganic Chemistry or closely related field is required. Doctorate must be completed by August 2018. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. A successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching and research presentations, is required. A commitment to the education of diverse populations is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Bioorganic Chemistry and college level teaching experience is preferred.
